Congleton Rovers (3:6) Davenham Dynamoes

Davenham Pay the Penalty for Party Culture

Congleton Rovers (3:6) Davenham Dynamoes (Kennerley (4), Rogerson, Drinkwater)

Another internal investigation is ongoing, following reports that key Davenham FC members were seen leaving Cheshire hotspots on the eve of an all important league encounter away at 3rd placed Congleton Rovers. Likewise, with the clocks moved forward, key players injured  and the Jaffa Cakes left in Davenham, it was no surprise that the Goldmen provided a stuttering and at sometimes  lacklustre performance.

Congleton started the brighter of the two sides, and with four penalties awarded in the first half (one missed for both sides) there was great excitement on both touchlines. Davenham rued numerous missed chances but managed to go into the break 2:1 up, courtesy of Kennerley and Rogerson.

Come the second half, Davenham moved up a gear and started to turn the screw.  Kennerley hit the post and Wadsworth went close with a screamer from 20 yards but it was Kennerley who completed a four goal haul for the second week running; Likewise Drinkwater scored the goal of the game with a thunderous dipping 20 yarder.  At 5:1 up Davenham let in Congleton with unconvincing defending, but had enough to run out overall winners on the day at 6:3 with Congleton taking the plaudits for their high energy performance.

The minimum that is expected by all players is 100% effort on the day and on once we get to next seasons 1st division, making good effort to keep momentum, consistency and concentration for the entire match is the target for the team.

With tales of late nights, partying and Wags, Wadsworth and Rogerson have vowed to leave no stone unturned as they ensure they are on the invitation list next time around of course all sleep overs and nights out will be on Friday nights from now on, wont they??? ;0)

On the positive side, Davenham will now play for the league title on Sunday 15th April versus Winsford Junior Blues. Its going to be a packed Moss Farm Arena as the 2nd division heavyweights go head to head. Looking at the FA.Com form book over the last seven matches, it couldnt be closer; it should be a cracker!

MOTM: Kennerley for an oustanding all action Captain's performance.
