Very good weather conditions for our final match, before we get put into leagues, which put the girls in a good positive mood from the beginning of the match, after the warm up the girls were ready to go into battle with Sandbach.
First Half
The team led out by captain Hudson were ready to start the match, Rangers started well with some nice football Hudson and Preston linking up and passing with confidence with some great tackles by Locke and Preston. Sandbach then got a break away up the field and took the lead 0 -1, Rangers started off well again with a fantastic pass by Hudson to Williams and then a shot at the Sandbach keeper who then had to pull off a good save to deny Williams of her first goal, Barrow had to pull off some great saves at the other end before Sandbach scoring again to make it 0 2, in the 6th minute of the game. Rangers again playing some good football and looking like an organised unit putting pressure on Sandbach. Locke and Preston again putting in some fine tackles, and Hudson making options for Williams. Then in the 8th minute Sandbach went 0 3 up to beat Barrow at the near post.
Second Half
Rangers came back on the field still full of confidence and ideas led out by Hudson with the same 5 in the starting line up who all contributed well for the next minute, Then Manager Mike Preston made 4 impact subs Standish on for Locke, Bibby for Hudson, Reid for Williams, McLaughlin on for Preston, All players straight into the action with some good tough tackles made by Standish and McLaughlin to set up a chance for Reid passed through by Bibby with the Sandbach keeper making a much needed save to also deny Reid of her first goal. Sandbach then broke free to score a 4th goal making it 0 4 in the 3rd miniute of the second half of the game. Rangers regrouped again and started well with all girls showing lots of effort and tenacity and pushing forward, Bibby with a good tackle setting up Reid who was through on goal but another good save by the keeper, Rangers were under pressure. Standish putting her body on the line with some good tackling, McLaughlin with some hard tackling trying to stop Sandbach from scoring. Barrow with the sun in her eyes making some fine saves then Sandbach made it 5 with 2 miniutes remaining, 0 5, Rangers carried on fighting with the same positive attitude with some fine play by Bibby and McLaughlin with her energy trying to win balls and create chances, Standish and Reid with lots of effort pushing on to try and get a goal. At the whistle, the final result was Rangers 0 Sandbach 5. Player of the Week was awarded to Preston for her efforts and determination during the game and at training.
