The Rangers started their 5 a side campaign with a hard fought game against a well organised & clearly experienced Frodsham team.
However with Locke at the heart of the Rangers defence the Frodsham strike force were not going get all their own way. Time & time again Locke's energy and determination along with Barrows resilence in goal proved too good for Frodsham to break down. Hudson, (who before the game was awarded the responsibility of team captain), led by example showing signs of great potential when making runs from her own half of the pich into the opposing half. Preston starting the game on the right side of midfield showed good understanding with Hudson, and on several occasions made good interceptions to break down opposing attacks. New recruit to the Rangers team Williams showed just why every effort was employed to ensure she was available for the opening fixtures, her ability to use both feet, & her speed when running with the ball almost brought her and Rangers their first goal of the season. Afer a through ball by Preston, Williams latched on to the pass advanced thirty yards and unleashed a right footed shot which was well saved by the Frodsham keeper.
In the second half the introduction of Standish, Reid, & the ever running McLaughlin helped retain Barrows clean sheet, although its fair to say the Rangers goal was leading a charmed life! Standish replacing Preston on the right side, was asked to play a slightly deeper role, to which she did excellently, with her none stop running for the team and numerous clearances. McLaughlin replacing captain Hudson showed just what an asset she'll be this season for the team with her strong runs from midfield & her determination get her name on the score sheet. Reid, replacing Williams, can also be very proud of her opening performance, whilst asked to be the lone striker, she worked tirelessly in helping her midfield and defence to keep the Frodsham girls from breaking the deadlock.

With the team a little tired from their opening game, it was time to unveil Bibby for her first start for the Rangers, determined to get her season underway Bibby can be very proud of her performance, showing lots of energy playing in defence along side Locke. McLaughlin started in the middle playing along side Hudson and together showed potential for a good partnership.
The game turned out to be a tough encounter, with Williams and Locke both having to leave the pitch for treatment after picking up injuries, however, both returned to action before the final whistle but were unable to prevent a 4-0 defeat.
