Dynamoes started their 5 a side campaign with a tough early match versus an experienced Egerton team. Cheered on at the Moss Farm arena, Dynamoes took the game to Egerton, with Wadsworth and Burns linking well in the early encounters. The pacey Egerton counter attack looked dangerous, but with Evison saving well and Richardson looking invincible at the back, it was Davenham who always looked the more likely to score. Although the girls are new to football, they looked to always play pass and move football, with the impressive Strefford at the heart of much of the team play. However, it was probably the move of the game which took the points with an excellent Wadsworth through ball, finding Burns who made no mistake with a thumping strike. 1:0 to Davenham. The girls continued to work hard in the summer sun; Mainwaring and Hartley made excellent contributions and with the final whistle drowned out by the cheers from the home support, Davenham took a fantastic 3 points and a much deserved first league win. Well done Girls you were awesome.
Full of confidence the girls took on a team from Warrington and from the off, the game was pretty much one way traffic. Burns opened up the scoring following a Mainwaring pass and quickly scored a further 3 as Davenham looked quicker and stronger in all departments than their Warrington counterparts. The goals rained in and with all players making a superb contribution, Davenham ran out with an emphatic win. Credit to Crosfields who never gave up and we wish them well for future games. Hatricks for Burns, Strefford and Wadsworth.
Overall, an excellent introduction to league football for Davenham Dynamoes. The girls played some lovely team football and with Strefford typifying the team ethos, she deservedly took the player of the match award. There will be tougher days ahead for Dynamoes, but for now they can be pleased to be sitting top of the league. Well done girls, the coaches and parents are so proud of you.
