Weve seen a very busy last few days for Davenham, with the backroom staff working hard on injured players to get a squad together for the final pre season friendly. With coaches and loyal supporters recovering (and drying out) from a team building day at Alton Towers, the boys looked remarkably fresh and ready for the derby match versus Northwich Victoria.
The Goldmen raced to a 5:0 half time score and played some lovely pass and move football into the bargain. The half time message asked for discipline, and to continue to move the ball at pace and concentrate on maintaining the intensity of their superb play.
Come the second half the one-way traffic continued and a rampant Davenham smashed in a further eight goals without reply as the visitors visibly tired in the warm September afternoon. The end of the game was drawn to a close early as the visitors No. 10 was asked to leave the play for violent conduct;
Job done, Davenham can not only be confident and very pleased with their final pre season game, but also with their Summer campaign. The boys have made significant improvement, and that's credit to everyone connected with the team. Interviewed after the game, Kennerley reflected that 9 wins out of 10 games, aint bad!!
......... and now the Goldmen, have a week to get their team ready for life in the 1st Division starting with Middlewich, away.
