A very competent 1st half display saw Davenham clinch a guaranteed promotion with three matches still to play. Davenham scored five 1st half goals to brush aside local Moss Farm rivals, Northwich Victoria to maintain their 100% win record in the league. Whitney, Heaword, Kennerley and Rogerson all scored great goals with Wadsworth scoring the 5th with an outstanding team goal which saw a dozen or so passes from defence, leaving the opposition chasing shadows, before the Davenham midfielder placed an excellent left foot strike into the bottom corner.
With the game deemed over at half time, the touchline were beaming with promotion clinched; however come the second half, lethargic Davenham were guilty of resting on their laurels and failed to play with the verve witnessed in the first half. Unfortunately poor defending discipline let in Northwich with two quick goals. Davenham recovered and were unlucky not to double their tally, but the three points were all important. Shooting practice on Friday, boys!!
Stitchy took the MOTM for an excellent personal display and led by example in listening to the coaches and played with a real passion and confidence nice one Stitchy.
So the lads left the field to a raptuous applause - First Division here we come - lets not forget our shooting boots! ;0)
